Samsung is paving way for the next generation mobile devices with the introduction o f various mobile chips. The company has rolled out two 1-GHz ARM Cortex A8-based application processors, and announced that these chips are capable of 3-D graphics rendering, high-resolution video support, and real-time Internet access, and both have low power architectures. Parallel computing is where a number of processors are run in tandem, allowing a system to rapidly crunch data. Those brainy folks over at Stanford are working on an open source digital camera. This is an effort to advance what they call “computational photography”. Basically they’re looking to combine some of the functionality of Photoshop or Gimp right into the camera. One example they discuss is utilizing an algorithm to even out the light levels from one side of the picture to the other. Malicious Firefox Add-on Spies On Google Search Results
Trend Micro reports the discovery of a spyware (detected as TSPY_EBOD.A by Trend Micro) purporting to be an Adobe Flash Player update. Upon execution, the spyware creates a Firefox add-on called “Adobe Flash Player 0.2,” the installer of which uses JavaScript (detected as JS_EBOD.A) and appears to spread via forum posts.
The add-on injects ads into the user’s Google search results pages. More disturbing, however, is its capability to monitor the user’s browsing activities, particularly his/her Google search queries using the Firefox browser. It then sends the information it gathers to http://******jupdate.com.
