The truth behind the Hoodia extract controversy

Can genuine Hoodia Gordonii come in an extract form? The simple answer to this question is no, no they can’t.
And the reason for this is simple too.
You see, when companies wield the term ‘Hoodia extract’, all they are actually offering you is a sample of the product they are claiming
to sell. In most cases just 60%.
The other 40% on the other hand can be anything from the leaves or flower of the Hoodia Gordonii plant; parts from other Hoodia plants
(there are in fact 13 types of Hoodia plant, but only Hoodia Gordonii can offer users…

Apple OKs first porn star apps for the iPhone

Apple has approved the first two iPhone apps dedicated to the careers of popular (or, ahem, so we’re told) porn stars.Developed by GrindHouse Mobile and the stars, the two apps mark the first time that Apple has allowed the porn industry into the store in such an obvious way.(Credit: GrindHouse Mobile)While these apps may be more in-your-face than some of the apps showing bikini-clad women that are already on the App Store, the content of these apps is relatively tame. They appear to show no more than suggestive photos–the same as the apps that preceded them.In other words, there is…

Importance of Colon Cleansing

Most health problems are attributed to an unhealthy colon. Thus, the demand for colon cleansing is booming in the recent years. However, this process is gaining controversy because some manufacturers claim that their product, aside from colon cleansing, can also help in losing weight and helps in avoiding certain kinds of cancer such as colorectal cancer or simply known as the cancer of the colon.
On the other side, some conservative doctors believe that colon cleansing is not necessary and can even cause harm in the digestive system. If you are interested to undergo a therapy, you should seek first…

“Accidental Billionaires”: A Politely Scandalous Novel

Over the past two days I read through Ben Mezrich’s new book the “Accidental Billionaires”, and while hardly anything new is revealed, it provides as much entertainment as one would expect from flipping through the pages of Maxim magazine. Actually that’s not so true as there is more male eroticism than scantily clad women but you can’t blame the author for at least trying. If you were looking for the type of excitement evoked by watching the movie “Hackers”, you will be sorely disappointed, especially since there isn’t a sweet soundtrack to accompany the book … you’ll have to wait…

Will Michael Jackson Become The Most Popular Person On Facebook?

Last week when Michael Jackson passed away I wrote about the tremendous growth in his Facebook Page as it transformed into a memorial site. As the chart below illustrates, his Page had around 2.9 million fans as of last night and by 11:15 AM EDT today he attracted 3,348,349 fans. Currently the largest Facebook Page is Barack Obama who has approximately 6.42 million fans but is only growing by a few thousand fans a day.

Since his death Michael Jackson’s music has been selling…

The Internet and the Library

"In this digital age, the custodians of published works are atthe center of a global copyright controversy that casts them asvillains simply for doing their job: letting people borrow booksfor free." ZDNet quoted by "Publisher’s Lunch on July , It is amazing that the traditional archivists of human knowledge- the libraries – failed so spectacularly to ride the tiger ofthe Internet, that epitome and apex of knowledge creation anddistribution. At first, libraries, the inertial repositories ofprinted matter, were overwhelmed by the rapid pace of technologyand by the ephemeral and anarchic content it spawned. They werereduced to providing access to dull…

Facebook Starts Recommending Branded Public Profiles

Last night Facebook turned on a feature which will surely build some buzz: the recommendation of brands as friends. Previously Twitter launched a user recommendation system which generated a lot of controversy as recommended users instantly got hundreds of thousands of followers. Many of the popular Twitter users have not yet embraced their Facebook public profiles in the same way that they’ve embraced their Twitter accounts.
