Obama move on China tires could spur more requests

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama’s decision to restrict tire imports from China after union workers complained of a surge could lead to copycat cases in areas such as steel, clothing, paper, machinery and consumer goods, trade experts said on Monday “It’s a target-rich environment,” said Lewis Leibowitz, a lawyer who represents the Consuming Industries Trade Action Coalition, which opposed relief in the tires case. “There’s almost anything you can hit. And even within import categories that have gone down, there may be smaller product categories that have gone up,” Leibowitz said. However, the question of which industries could…

Dr Reddy’s launches generic Starlix, shares rise

BANGALORE (Reuters) – Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd has launched a generic version of Novartis’ diabetes fighter in the United States, a spokesman for the Indian drugmaker said on Monday, sending its shares up 1.7 percent in a weak market. The company had received U.S. regulatory approval last week for nateglinide, a copycat version of Starlix, he said, but declined to give details. StudiVZ Investor Backs Facebook App Team

Last month I wrote about the fast growing Brain Buddies game which was a remix of “Who Has the Biggest Brain?”, one of Playfish’s top games. Brain Buddies Remixes Popular Brain Teaser Application, Experiences Rapid Growth

They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery, so Playfish should be pretty flattered by German-based Wooga’s latest game: Brain Buddies. The application takes a similar approach to “Who Has the Biggest Brain?” but provides new forms of brain teasers. There are four alternative challenges, one of which is almost identical to one of the challenges in Playfish’s competing application. Right now the most popular strategy for success in the social gaming arena appears to be copy others and then promote.

The result has been multiple legal battles although none of them have resulted in any game changing decision…

WARNING: New Facebook Phishing Scam Spreading Rapidly

In the last half hour I’ve received multiple emails from people about a new phishing scam making its way around Facebook. The service lures users to enter their information at a site FBAction.net which displays a false Facebook login page. Within a short amount of time, users that enter their email and password find that their password has been switched and all of their friends have been emailed from the account.

It’s not a very original phishing scam but it definitely works. One user told us that his “guard was down today” and he ended up entering his information. The…
