Facebook Finally Lets User Reply To Comments Via Email

We have received countless emails about Facebook testing comment replies via email for the past few months however this afternoon it became official. It’s somewhat surprising that it has taken this long for the company to get this up and running but I’d assume there were some significant technical limitations. It’s a relatively basic feature, however effectively parsing through millions of emails can prove complex.

DIY AVR USB RGB LED notifier

Giving us a chance to break out the TLAs, [Blair] sent in his latest hack where he embedded an RGB LED into his EeePC to display twitter, pidgin, and email notifications. It is based around the ATtiny45, and requires very few additional parts. He based the project on a foundation of work laid by [Dennis Unter] on notifications and the work of [Dave Hillier] that used V-USB, a library for implementing USB on AVRs. Signs Point To Launch Of Facebook Profile Fans Feature

There’s a new feature within the email notifications area of Facebook which enables users to receive an email every time somebody “Connects to me as a fan”. We first heard about this new feature last night and were able to confirm it this morning. Just yesterday we wrote about how Facebook Pages have become your friends, which is another step in the merging of profiles and Pages. The combination of profile fans and the new granular publisher controls will help complete the twitterfication of Facebook.
