It appears that Social Hour, one of the few ad networks to be completely banned from the Facebook platform, has now relaunched under a new name: Dizzy Networks. According to one source, Social Hour had been looking for a new face for the company and according to the company’s website, they hired Jeremy Olsson, who was previously the Director of Performance Marketing for RockYou. While the company is still focused on trying to convert IQ quizzes, it doesn’t appear as though Dizzy Networks is running as aggressive of advertisements this time around.

When the Facebook platform launched over two years ago, one of the first ways of generating revenue was by charging for application installs. Two years later, installs are still a relatively large business and at between 20 to 50 cents per install, Facebook ad networks are bringing in money one or two quarters at a time. Earlier this year the New York Observer did a piece about a man from Facebook who decided to begin painting portraits of users’ profiles. While not the first person to turn to Facebook as a source of inspiration, Matt Held has been creating some amazing looking portraits of people on the site. As he mentions in the video below, there is a limitless amount of source material. Surprisingly he hasn’t created a business of it yet. Last Friday Techcrunch noticed an instance of Facebook’s payment platform caught in the wild. The application that payments was integrated into was the GroupCard application and integration appears pretty straight forward. As we’ve been writing over the past few weeks, payments will begin to be rolled out across a few beta applications in the near future with the final launch months down the road.
