Double the RAM on D-Link router

[Pelaca] upgraded the RAM on his D-Link DIR-320 router from 32MB to 64MB. This hack is simple enough: swap out the existing RAM chip for another one and change the bios to make use of the upgrade. The actual execution is not that simple because of the pitch of the TSOP II package; you’ll need to bring your mad soldering skills to pull this off.

PS3 Slim Teardown

The new PS3 Slim has just been released, and ifixit has already posted a teardown. First, they easily removed the included 120GB hard drive, suggesting that upgrading it  shouldn’t be too hard. In order to get inside the cover, however, they needed to use a security Torx screwdriver. In the end, the Blu-ray drive turned out to be the bulkiest component, followed by some surprisingly gigantic fans. Hopefully this means that Sony won’t have to deal with overheating issues.

There’s a new feature within the email notifications area of Facebook which enables users to receive an email every time somebody “Connects to me as a fan”. We first heard about this new feature last night and were able to confirm it this morning. Just yesterday we wrote about how Facebook Pages have become your friends, which is another step in the merging of profiles and Pages. This afternoon Facebook announced that they are launching an updated version of their inbox. Finally! So what changes are coming to the inbox? A few things. The greatest improvement is the ability to filter through those messages that have been unread. Facebook Page updates will also get their own tab, which is surprising since it had previously appeared as though the company was reducing the emphasis on Page updates.

Be it declared, a map for every feed!

One of the most compelling reasons that publishers choose FeedBurner is that it gives them the tools to record and analyze how many users are consuming their content. Late last week, we launched an enhancement to our item statistics that enables publishers to get a bit more information about those users. Similar to the feature by the same name in Google Analytics, the “Map Overlay” page provides a breakdown of the previous day’s item statistics from a geographic perspective. For feeds with item stats enabled, clicking on the “Map Overlay” item from feedburner.google.com will bring you the page. From your AdSense…
