Bharti Airtel Ltd (BHARTIARTL.BO : 414.65 -7.2), India’s biggest mobile-phone company, and South Africa’s MTN Group Ltd have reached a $24-billion preliminary agreement to buy each other’s shares, the first step in a planned merger, three people familiar with the matter said. The Serpent Mother is certainly an appropriate name for this 168foot long snake fire art installation filled with enough goodies to impress anyone who is into flame effects. Facebook is getting aggressive with a few developers who have been abusing the platform. Today the company alerted us to a “substantial” policy enforcement against the developers behind My Calendar, one of the largest Facebook applications. MyCalendar has been temporarily disabled and hundreds of other applications have been permanently shut down. According to Facebook, the developers have been engaging in misleading and spammy tactics in order to get more users rather than building valuable experiences.

Much has been said about the rumored Apple Tablet but this is the first time we’re saying that this device could probably replace the Apple TV.
If rumor is true, the Apple Tablet or the iPad could make a breakthrough in the digital tablet industry. It could feature the iPhone apps and just make them larger or not. It could also be a media center extender.

As with most electronic musical instruments, we saw this in the tip box and expected the usual random noises to show off the instruments range. Consider us pleasantly surprised. The New York Times has released initial details about the Facebook employee stock purchase plan from Digital Sky Technologies (DST). As I wrote back in May, DST invested $200 million and announced plans to purchase up to $100 million “from existing common stockholders that would facilitate liquidity for current and former employees’ vested shares in the company”.
