Ebay is Boring Compared to New Electronics Auction

Burbank, California – Muulu (muulu.com) is growing in popularity as a cheaper alternative to eBay. Why? Because the average winning bid for new electronics items, like iPhones, game systems, and iPods, is substantially lower on Muulu than on Ebay. People pay for bids. These payments buy down the possible winning price of the item being auctioned until it is won for well below wholesale price. Other electronic items include HDTVs, laptops, desktop computers, and GPS systems.

The biggest thing that draws people to Muulu is the insane deals. People can win a new Apple iPod Touch for $90, a new…

U.K. Reconsiders Ban on Product Placements in TV Shows

LONDON — The British government is moving toward lifting a longstanding ban on product placements in TV shows on commercial networks, in a move that would aid the country’s struggling commercial broadcasters, a person familiar with the matter said Sunday. Ben Bradshaw, secretary of state for culture, media and sport, is expected to explain why he thinks the ban should be lifted in a speech to the Royal Television Society this week. The British Broadcasting Corp., whose TV networks in the U.K. don’t air advertisements, will continue to ban product placements, or deals in which companies pay for a product…

China Strikes Back on Trade

BEIJING — China indicated Sunday it would restrict U.S. imports of chicken and auto products after Washington’s move to slap punitive sanctions on Chinese tire imports, raising tensions in a trade dispute ahead of two planned meetings between the countries’ leaders. Many observers in China say ties between the nations should remain unharmed, noting that China’s measures could limit imports in two areas that it already tightly controls — and thus might not have a huge effect on U.S. exports. But the measures add to worries about trade protectionism amid rising unemployment around the world.

Despite Passing On iLike, Facebook Appears Still Interested In Music

Just last week we wrote about the MySpace acquisition of iLike and this week it appears that some form of agreement between Facebook and Spotify is in the works according to Techcrunch. The rumor is based on a status update by Mark Zuckerberg in which he simply stated “Spotify is so good.” While Mark may be a victim to the classic “shiny object syndrome” found in much of Silicon Valley, he probably wouldn’t have written the update had something not been in the works.

Whether or not discussions or near the final stages, Spotify is most definitely an interesting product…

Maple beats up Arduino, takes its shields

The Atmega168 at the heart of every Arduino is an eminently capable chip; its ilk have been seen working as a basic web server, playing back digital audio, even generating TV signals. But as projects continue to grow in sophistication, reality rears its ugly head: Arduino can handle any one of these tasks very well, but it often requires squeezing every last instruction cycle or bit of memory in the device. Even the ’368 chip and the Arduino Mega are stopgap measures. Sooner or later, you have to graduate to long trousers—move up to a more capable microcontroller platform—an uncomfortable change usually involving…
