Studies for the new V3 lab have been underway for a little over a month. Most of this time has been spent reading the CME 7.0 and CUCM 7.0 SRNDs and more specifically, those sections which introduce new features and technologies. A section I have really focused on, reading several times now, is [...]

Facebook Launching New Prototypes Area In The App Directory
Facebook posted an image earlier today and quickly removed a shot of three upcoming prototype applications via a soon to be added, Facebook Prototypes category in the application directory. The three applications include “Desktop Notifications” which many other blogs have extensively covered, and two applications never covered previously: similar posts and enhanced event emails.
The first application: “similar posts” will most likely let you track which feed stories are similar to one that you are currently viewing. The second applications “Enhanced Event Emails” includes “an iCal file as an attachment to your Event Invitation emails”, letting people put the event…
Mozilla Fennec Alpha 3 for Windows Mobile released
Mozilla released the latest alpha version of their new mobile browser Fennec for Windows Mobile. It brings many new features and fixes, such as improved startup time and a caching system to help scrolling on a page. They have also added support for a wider range of screen resolutions, and for those of us running an HTC Touch Pro support for zoom via the directional pad has been included in this release. Being an alpha release, it’s still a bit on the buggy side, but is very a promising browser for mobile phones. The final release should give other…
Experimental search engine display
goodTimes.searchEngine is an experimental set up to display search engine results. Be sure you’re using Firefox or IE, because it isn’t working with chrome right now. [Gordon] pointed us to it and asked for our feedback. We had a pretty quick list of improvements we would like to see, such as the category changes not popping up in new windows, or the new windows appearing on top for that matter. Or most importantly, a way to transition from the fancy preview window to a new tab or window. We are curious to hear your thoughts on this. What would…
Why You’ll Love Facebook’s New iPhone App
This evening I’ve been playing around with Facebook’s new iPhone application and it’s definitely a significant upgrade from before. As mentioned on a number of instances, the new application includes events, Facebook page management, full access to the news feed, the ability to create and edit notes, video upload, and more. This iteration is a significant upgrade and given that the application has over 4 million daily active users and 12 million monthly users, this will be a much welcomed upgrade.
As I wrote on Sunday, Facebook’s new application has been submitted to the app store and is awaiting approval.…
What Developers And Marketers Need To Know About Facebook’s New Inbox And Notification APIs
This afternoon Facebook is announcing an extended set of features for developers including a new Inbox API and Notification API. The first announcement is a big one: “The Inbox API allows you to access your users’ messages, once they grant your application the new read_mailbox extended permission.” That means we could soon see a ton of new applications built around managing users’ Facebook inboxes. The one downside of this new feature is that applications cannot currently send messages.
What’s Being Added?
As part of the new inbox, attachments can be created using the same model used for developing publisher attachments…
Facebook’s New Pages: What Has Changed?
This is Day 1 of the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program. You can learn more about the program here.
On March 4th of this year, Facebook released an updated version on what was previously called “Facebook Pages”, then renamed to “Facebook Public Profiles”. While it has been months since the update, the changes are significant enough that I think they’re worth noting. The update essentially transformed the ways that brands could interact with both existing customers as well as potential future customers.
While many described it as a move against Twitter (including myself), the dynamic between Twitter and Facebook…

Facebook Launches New Ad Targeting Filters
Over the past couple weeks I’ve been writing about hints of new targeting features for Facebook Ads. As of today, those features have gone live. This evening Facebook posted a note on the Facebook Ads page about three new filters: Connections, Locations, and Birthdays. We already posted about the multi-country advertisements but not about the additional two filters: connections and birthdays.
Connections enable advertisers to target members of groups, pages, or events that they own or target those users that are not already members. This avoids having ads show up for people that have already joined. Facebook is also now…
Facebook To Add Time Scheduling To Ads
Facebook appears to be making some additional modifications to their ad platform. Over the past few weeks we’ve covered a number of new features that Facebook has begun testing including keyword recommendations and multi-country support. According to Dave Kerpen Facebook is also in the process of adding ad scheduling.
I’ve spent a few minutes browsing around and can’t seem to find where to schedule ads but it’s clearly something that the company is testing. It appears that over the past couple weeks Facebook has started investing more heavily in improving the advertising platform. This is a great sign of things…
Facebook Privacy Announcement Today (1 PM EDT)
Facebook has sent out a notice to members of the press about a webcast this afternoon (1 PM EDT) about upcoming changes to Facebook’s privacy. So what is the exact subject of call? Nothing has been said except for “upcoming privacy changes”. We’ll be covering the event live but we are expecting it to simply be more details about Facebook’s new granular publisher controls.
There has been a lot of miscommunication recently about the new features which is why Facebook is holding an event to provide more details. I’d also expect more information about Facebook’s planned roll-out of Facebook profile…
