DownloadSquad And Facebook Users Get Confused About Facebook’s Advertising Policy

Yes, Facebook can use your image within advertisements on their site but not the ones that DownloadSquad illustrates in their article about whoring out user photos. The information used for the photos were scraped while accessing Facebook applications by a third-party ad network that most likely violated Facebook’s terms of service. It’s a serious problem and one that I’ve highlighted many times.

Following Download Squad’s instructions will not solve the problem. That’s because ad networks do not check to see the setting that Download Squad explains how to modify. This misunderstanding is now creating a substantial amount of buzz and…

How To Claim Life Insurance Benefit?

Life insurance pays benefits to the beneficiary listed on the life insurance policy when the policyholder dies. But the payments are not issued automatically and life insurance companies are not informed immediately when their policyholders pass on. Just like in auto insurance or property insurance, you have to file a claim if you want to collect any benefits. The life insurance paperwork As a beneficiary, if you need to collect the benefits of a life insurance policy, filling out paperwork is probably the last thing on your mind. Life insurance companies and life insurance brokers try to make the process…

Getting In Over Your Head

I know many of you have heard the term before. It’s not uncommon for someone to get in over their head, and its especially easy in the networking world to do just that. I set a goal a little while back to achieve the CCIE R&S in 90 days. At the time it seemed like a reasonable goal with my background. Since then I have learned a great deal about my weaknesses and the amount of content that’s actually involved in the CCIE R&S. Well, I’m here to tell you that a CCNP is just the tip of the iceberg…

Tips to Consider Before Buying an Annuity Policy

Annuities may be a useful tool for those who want a steady stream of income throughout their lives. While most annuities include a death benefit, an annuity is almost the opposite of a life insurance policy – annuities offer financial protection against outliving your income.
Buying an annuity can be a complicated decision. Following are a few considerations for buyers before deciding whether to purchase annuity policies:
* Review all of your other savings plans, pensions or retirement funds to determine whether you need an annuity and whether the annuity you are considering is the right one for you based…

Facebook Switches “Kisses” Page Name To OraBrush, Turns Publisher Back On (Updated)

In a strange turn of events Facebook has switched the “Kisses” page name to OraBrush, the brand who initially acquired the page. The process has been an interesting one as Facebook began randomly disabling the publishers for generic Facebook Pages. Now we are hearing that large generic Pages are being converted back into the brand names but that’s based on a number of variables, some of which were provided to us off the record.

We have reached out to Facebook for clarification on what appears to be an updated strategy but have not yet heard back. I will be updating…

Facebook Attempts To Spark Privacy Revolution, Will The People Follow?

Facebook’s most recent feature announcement about the new granular publisher controls received a lot of attention for being a move against Twitter. We’ve been covering the drawn out battle between Facebook and Twitter for months now but what’s more important is the immense amount of control that Facebook is attempting to give the user. While Facebook has been criticized on numerous instances for aggressive new features that push the limits of access to our friends’ information (news feed, beacon, etc), the company is trying to hand control over to the user rather than giving them the twitter-like option of private…

Affiliate Marketers Flock To Facebook And Click Fraud Skyrockets

Over the past few weeks, big affiliate advertisers on Facebook have reported a spike in fake clicks, but this is only part of where Facebook has faced challenges within its ad network over the past few months. The reason for the surge in fake clicks is a result of a number of things including the creation of Facebook ad scrapers that are being used to track advertisers’ ads on the site and what pages the ads are linking to.

An Affiliate Land Rush Begins
Prior to exploring the current claims for click fraud, I thought it would be important to…

SocialReach Makes A Comeback Is Still Down One Day After Being Shut Down

We’ve now received multiple reports that SocialReach advertisements are now being displayed across Facebook applications once again. This is just one day after they were shut down for violating the terms of service. As “The Harmony Guy” posts in our comments, “The ads are a bit modified to placate some of Facebook’s concerns, but on the backend, SocialReach ads are still requesting detailed user information with the session information of the application hosting the ads.”

We have no word about whether or not SocialHour is back but it’s clear the down time was a temporary thing. One thing is becoming…

Turn off Thumbs.db

Thumbs.db is a file which is created in a folder with Movies or Pictures so that you can view a piece of their content without actualy opening them (you can’t see thumbnails unless you have the option to view system files turned on). Thumbs.db is there so that you don’t need to reload a thumbnail everytime you browse that folder. Sad fact is, is Thumbs.db takes up about 2kb per file and if you edit a lot of stuff its annoying to keep seeing them popping up all over your computer. You can remove thumbs.db quite easily by following these…
