Learn Facebook Page SEO Mastery In 7 Easy Steps

This is Day 7 of the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program. You can learn more about the program here.
For those of you that haven’t spent a lot of time with internet marketing, you probably are not aware of what search engine optimization is. The main goal of search engine optimization is to increase the amount of traffic driven to any given site by search engines. Currently search engines (and mostly Google) serve as the starting point of a user’s journey around the web. While many users will go directly to their favorite sites, search engines are used multiple…

Facebook’s New Pages: What Has Changed?

This is Day 1 of the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program. You can learn more about the program here.

On March 4th of this year, Facebook released an updated version on what was previously called “Facebook Pages”, then renamed to “Facebook Public Profiles”. While it has been months since the update, the changes are significant enough that I think they’re worth noting. The update essentially transformed the ways that brands could interact with both existing customers as well as potential future customers.

While many described it as a move against Twitter (including myself), the dynamic between Twitter and Facebook…

We’ve Upgraded The AllFacebook Statistics Area

As I mentioned when I was rolling out the new AllFacebook design a week or two ago, I’ve been upgrading the statistics tools on this site after crashing some of our servers. Over the past few weeks I’ve been upgrading the database and reprogramming some of the tools so that they’re more efficiently structured. Today we’re pushing out the upgraded versions of the app tracker and page tracker which has been down for the past few weeks. You’ll notice that it looks just like before except that it’s integrated into the new layout.

The primary difference between the previous iteration…

Happy 2nd Birthday to AllFacebook

I’m happy to say that today is the two year anniversary of the launch of AllFacebook. What started as a mission of building a popular site has turned into a full blown obsession for me. We’ve been tracking new applications, new features, and theorizing about future features to be added to the site. The site had around 20 million users when we first started and has now grown to over 325 million users. This site now has over 2,078 articles, 284 of which have been posted by other people (Anthony LaFauce, Kristen Nicole, Will M, and many others), 1,794 of…

Facebook Page Likes And Comments Become Public Information

At some point in the past 48 hours Facebook has made public profile comments and likes public information. Earlier this week I was browsing through public profiles (aka. Facebook pages) and noticed that comments and likes were not public information. Then this morning I was browsing through Facebook pages (while not logged in to the site) to check out how much more popular Vin Diesel had become. Honestly, I was searching for was the number of comments and likes on any given feed story. Suddenly the information had become public and now I’m able to view all of the comments…

New Facebook Application Pages Go Live

Last week Facebook announced that applications would soon have their application pages upgraded to function like the new public profiles. This morning that functionality went live. For many applications this means another distribution channel for reaching users and encouraging them to return to the application. Some developers had already been promoting existing public profiles for their applications which resulted in millions of fans.

Now they’ll need to figure out a way to merge the two pages. Last week I wrote that this was a major upgrade for applications as empowers developers to keep a conversation with their users. While some…

Facebook’s Revenue Per Employee Is Comparable To eBay

There has been continued speculation about Facebook’s projected revenue for 2009 and many have posted estimates in the range of $400 to $500 million. If those are truly accurate estimates, Facebook’s revenue per employee falls somewhere between Adobe and eBay based on revenue estimates provided by Royal Pingdom. For a company which has yet to find a “breakthrough” revenue model, it’s most definitely producing competitive results.

Does that mean Facebook’s revenue will scale proportionally to the number of employees they hire? Probably not but considering the large number of employees allocated to non-revenue generating activities (fighting spam, building out the…

Facebook To Launch New Application Directory And Application Profile Pages

Many developers have been rushing to create public profile pages for their applications when the new public profiles launched over a month ago. It appears that developers will no longer need to worry about having separate public profiles from their application page. Today Facebook will announce the launch of an updated version of application profile pages in addition to the redesign of the application directory.
Here are a few of the coming updates:

Improved Categories: Facebook has decided to change the categories that developers are allowed to use for their applications. While many of the previous ones will continue to…

Should you have a study partner for the CCIE?

Should you have a Study Partner for the CCIE?  It’s an interesting question when you consider it.  I mean, really, the CCIE is mostly a personal pursuit and people progress at different paces.  Still I’ve seen that question pop up from time to time.  I don’t think I ever had a personal, individual study partner, but I think I look at it from a slightly different angle.  I consider the lists and the blogs to be my study partner.
Twitter as a Study Partner
All things considered twitter could be considered a study partner.  You follow people with similar interests…

Facebook Turns on Commenting For Public Profile Wall Posts

Facebook’s new public profiles have had support for commenting on status updates since the new design was pushed out but one flaw was the inability to comment on fans’ wall posts. Thankfully Facebook has turned that feature on tonight. Up until this evening, public profile admins could not comment on users’ wall posts. It was actually a pretty substantial limitation.

I personally had a number of users that regularly post wall comments and I’m not able to reply to them. As of tonight that has all changed. I can thankfully comment and “like” any of the new wall posts. It’s…

Interview: Victoria Ransom, CEO and Founder of Wildfire Interactive

When Facebook hosted the first ever governance vote a couple of weeks ago, one of the biggest winners of the vote was Wildfire Promotion Builder, the company that developed the Facebook Governance voting application. As soon as I noticed that Facebook hadn’t built the application internally I had to find out who was behind the company.
After doing a little digging I found out that the company was a winner in the last round of the fbFund, Facebook’s seed fund for entrepreneurs looking to build applications with Facebook’s social technology. The company appears to have perfect timing, offering a suite…

Facebook’s Poor Decision To Postpone Revenue

How on earth is Facebook going to make billions of dollars? That’s the question that many Facebook skeptics have and it’s one of the reasons behind Facebook’s current valuation of $3 billion. The company has been focused on breaking even since early on and now years later they are still operating near a break-even point even though many are questioning the impact of the company’s growing server costs.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer, recently told Bloomberg in response to a question about fundraising, “We could not be doing better financially. We absolutely do not need to take money. We…
