Facebook Now Promoting Twitter Export Feature To Page Admins. Are The Two Companies Moving Toward An Open Relationship?

This evening, Facebook began fully promoting the new Twitter syncing tool via the top of Facebook Pages and are encouraging page admins to sync with Twitter. With millions of page administrators (which still appear to be a fraction of all users), this new tool promotion will also serve as a significant promotion for Twitter in general. At this point the service is well known but by launching the product internally and making people say “Why’d they do that?”, Facebook is in essence using Twitter to keep their own company honest.

All along Mark Zuckerberg has been clear about his decision…

NBC Universal Launches Facebook Connect Across Multiple Properties

Today NBC Universal announced the implementation of Facebook Connect across multiple sites including USANetwork.com, AccessHollywood.com, iVillage.com, Syfy.com, Oxygen.com, and NBCSports.com. So what’s the bigger picture here? Well Facebook just won another large media partner to help them become the center of our digital identities. Whether you are reading content about celebrities, or sharing information about women’s issues on iVillage.com, you’ll be able to share content and sync up your accounts.

Let’s Get Together And Share!
Sharing is caring and that’s why you can now share content directly from NBC’s various web properties. I’m still trying to figure out how these…

Posterous Now Syncs Posts With Facebook Pages

Later this evening Posterous will announce the ability to automatically post feed stories to your Facebook Page every time you create a new post. So far the only tool that has been available is the Facebook Notes application which imports your blog feed. While you’ll need a Posterous account to sync with your Page, the site provides individuals and businesses with a great platform for posting content.

Included in each feed story will be some of the photos and text from the post that you’ve created. As Posterous states, “Due to the limitations of the Facebook platform, we’re unable to…

Oh Yeah, Facebook Connect Has Been Live On Hulu For Months

Apparently Hulu launched their implementation of Facebook Connect early last month but few people actually noticed. The Connect implementation enables users to view what videos their friends are watching. One thing that doesn’t appear to be an integral part of the Connect support is the ability to publish stories about what videos you’ve watched to your feed. Hulu has been receiving a lot of traffic which will also help Facebook expand the reach of Connect.

If you didn’t notice that Hulu had implemented Connect, it’s not surprising. To sync your Facebook account with Hulu, you need to login to the…

Palm Pre iPod spoofing confirmed

The new Palm Pre cellphone has a “media sync” feature which lets the device sync with iTunes in a fashion identical to an iPod. Last week [Jon Lech Johansen] speculated that this was not done in cooperation with Apple and that Palm was spoofing the iPod’s USB controller. This was confirmed today when a tipster sent him a screenshot of what the device reports in both standard and media sync modes. The Palm Pre reports its Product ID as iPod and Vendor ID as Apple with a few other changes. [Jon] notes that it doesn’t change the root USB…

First Verified Facebook Application Goes Live

This evening, CourseFeed was the first verified application to go live. Last year at the f8 developer conference, Facebook announced the launch of application verification program and by November registration was opened. Since then there has been little buzz but as of tonight, the first verified application has gone live.
Since this is the first application to be accepted into the program, there probably won’t be much of a benefit as most users are not aware of the “verified application” icon. The program states that “users will see more information from verified applications as we increase their allocations for communication…

Facebook Coming to BD-Live In Partnership With Warner Brothers

Warner Brothers and Facebook have teamed up to produce a new “interactive community-screening feature” on all Warner Home Video’s Blu-ray movies beginning with “Watchment Director’s Cut” according to Hollywood Reporter. The feature will be available to all BD-Live users. When I first read about the announcement I had no idea what BD-Live was.

For those unaware of the new feature, “BD-Live is a newly developed Blu-ray feature that enables you to access content via your internet-connected Blu-ray player.” Essentially each disc will have the ability to provide BD-Live powered features. This brings a new world of opportunities including highly interactive…

New Facebook for Blackberry Launches

Today the updated version of Facebook for Blackberry has gone live. I just downloaded the application by visiting mobile.blackberry.com from my Blackberry’s mobile browser. I previously wrote about the updated Facebook Blackberry application back in March and all of the cool new features that come with it. It looks pretty slick and I’m waiting to finish installing it so I can post a video review.

As I previously wrote, there are four new features to the upgraded version of the application:

Calendar Sync – This will update your handheld’s calendar with Facebook events.
Contact Sync – This will sync your…

Amazon Kindle App for iPhone

Some time back I purchased a 1st generation Amazon Kindle. I really liked it. While I owned it I bought 5 Cisco Press books, including Network Security Principles and Practices. There was some talk about Internetwork Expert releasing their workbooks for the kindle, and I actually had some email correspondence where I was told I could be a beta tester. Well that never happened, and although IE announced that the kindle version was coming soon I think they kinda just dropped the thought and changed directions. It probably had something to do with how difficult Amazon makes it to add…
